WHEN: 1906 - 1920
POST OFFICE: November 8, 1906 - December 8, 1916
POPULATION: 700 - 1000
SUMMARY: Blair, Nevada was established in 1906 as a result of the mining boom triggered by the silver discoveries in Tonopah.
A 100-stamp mill was planned for construction in the vicinity of Silver Peak. However, due to land speculators inflating real estate prices, the new mill was ultimately established outside of Silver Peak and came to be referred to as "Blair".
Blair was inhabited by over seven hundred residents and featured several saloons, its own newspaper, and a two-story hotel.
A railroad spur referred to as the "Silver Peak Railroad" was constructed to connect the town with Blair Junction, located approximately seventeen miles away.
The town thrived for a number of years until the mill ceased operations around 1915. The post office followed suit and closed in 1916, leading to Blair becoming a ghost town by 1920.
