SUMMARY: Gold was first discovered at Nivloc in 1907; however, substantial mining operations did not begin until the 1930s. The Nivloc Post Office was established in October 1940, at which time it was estimated that around two hundred residents were living in Nivloc.
Over four hundred thousand tons of ore were extracted from the 1930s until approximately 1943, when mining operations were halted. Following World War II, minor mining activities continued into the 1960s
The town derives its name from one of its previous owners, "Colvin," which is" Nivloc" spelled in reverse.
