SUMMARY: The Western Pacific Railroad was established in 1903, and the construction of the new railway linking California to Salt Lake City, Utah, was finalized in 1909. This new rail line was to compete with the Southern Pacific Railroad.
The North Battle Mountain train depot served as a minor siding on the Western Pacific Railroad. Limited information is available regarding both the location and the depot itself.
The image above was utilized to determine the approximate site of the depot, where several small items were discovered in the vicinity. The old depot location seems to be near the existing power station in one of the photos below.
Diesel engines started to supplant the traditional steam engines in 1939, enabling them to circumvent numerous outdated depots.
